Join us on March 8th for a talk with Yasmine Pahlavi, Crown Princess of Iran. Princess Pahlavi will be in conversation with Lisa Daftari and the program will address the state of women, refugees, and the LGBT+ community within Iran.

Since surviving breast cancer in 2018, Crown Princess Yasmine Pahlavi has been active in breaking taboos about the disease for Iranian women. After publicly sharing her diagnosis she began engaging with countless survivors and documented her own experience and recovery to share awareness with the women of Iran. Currently, she is engaged in efforts to support and expand the discourse about Iranian refugees. Having returned from one of the world’s most dangerous refugee camps, Moria in Lesbos, Greece, and being featured in the documentary “The Voiceless Refugees” she has expanded her efforts to coordinate and support nonprofits and NGO’s aiding her refugee compatriots.

Yasmine Pahlavi
was born in Tehran, Iran and moved to the United States at the height of the Islamic Revolution. She married Crown Prince Reza in 1986 and pursued both her undergraduate degree and law degree at the George Washington University while raising her young family. From a young age, she dedicated herself to the defense and support of those in need. While in law school, she aided domestic violence survivors and upon passing the bar she served as an attorney for the Children’s Law Center in Washington, DC representing at-risk and underprivileged youth. In her work she focused on special education, health care and adoption advocacy. As a young professional she also spent time in journalism and at the World Bank where she focused on labor law reform. As part of her efforts to ensure the well-being of her compatriots, Princess Yasmine co-founded the Foundation for the Children of Iran in 1991 at the age of 23 to provide health care services to Iranian children or children of Iranian origin regardless of ethnicity, color, creed, religious or political affiliation.
