Professor Cooper earned the Ph.D.
in Anthropology and East Asian Studies from Columbia University
and has taught at the Univ. of Pittsburgh and the University of
Hong Kong before assuming his present position at USC.
He teaches courses in Family and
Kinship in Cross-cultural Perspective, Economic Anthropology,
and Anthropological Theory, as well as courses in Chinese
society and Culture.
His most recent books include
"The Artisans and Entrepreneurs of Dongyang County" and
"Adventures in Chinese Bureaucracy." He is presently
working on a project on Temple Fairs and Popular Religion in
China.
