The Los Angeles World Affairs Council & Town Hall is pleased to host Jonatan Vseviov, Estonian Ambassador to the US, who will provide a European perspective on Transatlantic cooperation and NATO, discuss US-Estonian cooperation on cybersecurity and intelligence against digital and kinetic threats, and share how Estonia, a country of 1.3 million, is leading the world in creating a digital economy.

Ambassador Jonatan Vseviov has served as Ambassador of Estonia to the United States since August 2018. He has worked at the Estonian Ministry of Defense for 10 years. Until his appointment as Permanent Secretary in January 2016, Mr. Vseviov served as the Undersecretary for Defense Planning, the Acting Undersecretary for Defense Policy, and Director of Policy Planning. Ambassador Vseviov has had a leading role in shaping Estonia’s defense policy.

Justin Hughes (Moderator, LAWACTH Member) is the Hon. William Matthew Byrne Distinguished Professor of Law at Loyola Marymount University, where he teaches international trade and intellectual property courses.  He previously taught at Cardozo Law School in New York.  From 2009 until 2013, Professor Hughes also served as Senior Advisor to the Undersecretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property.  In that capacity, he was the US chief negotiator for two multilateral treaties, the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances (2012) and the Marrakesh Treaty for the Blind (2013).
