In Conversation: Berggruen Institute Chairman Nicolas Berggruen with D.A. Wallach, recording artist, songwriter, investor, and essayist.

Nicolas Berggruen is founder and chairman of the Berggruen Institute, the non-partisan think tank planning its new headquarters in Los Angeles, designed by Herzog & de Meuron. Berggruen is the co-author of “Intelligent Governance for the 21st Century” and is co-publisher of TheWorldPost. As chairman, he fosters the study and design of systems of good governance suited for the 21st century, which has led to the Institute’s formation of the 21st Century Council; the Council for the Future of Europe; and the Think Long Committee for California. Berggruen seeks to find and reward those philosophical, sociological, and technological ideas that have the capacity to shape the future for the better through projects like the annual Berggruen Prize for Philosophy & Culture. This $1 million award is given annually to thinkers whose ideas have profoundly shaped human self-understanding and advancement in a rapidly changing world. In 2017, eminent moral philosopher Onora Sylvia O’Neill, Baroness of O’Neill of Bengarve, received this honor. Register early – seating is limited!
