Speaker Bios

August Bradley is the Executive Producer and Host of MIND & MACHINE, a weekly talk show and podcast with people at the forefront of transformational technologies and futurist ideas. He is a Frontier-Tech Strategist with YearZero, the consulting firm he founded to help companies initiate disruptive tech advantages in their fields, before they're disrupted by others. In this capacity he works with Artificial Intelligence/MachineLearning, AR/VR, Blockchain, IoT, Robotics, 3D Printing, Sensor-Tech, etc. August is also Advisor and Tech Curator for AI LA (leading Artificial Intelligence community in LA), and for Ye Old Futurist Union (an Oxford style debate society on futurist issues).

Chris Hardouin is the Senior Manager of Electronic Development at Spin Master, one of the largest companies in the world, responsible for such hits as Bakugan, Hatchimals, Paw Patrol and more. After graduating with his MS from Carnegie Mellon, Chris ventured into consumer robotics. He has worked at Mattel on such brands as Hot Wheels and Tyco R/C. Since joining Spin Master, his team has created toys such as Meccanoid, Arachnoid and an interactive BB-8 droid. Chris’ focus is on bringing magic and realism to consumer products through advanced technologies. He believes that the great futurists succeed because, like children, they dream without limits.

Dr. Ross Mead is Founder and CEO of Semio. Ross received his PhD and MS in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in 2015, and his BS in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2007. Ross's dissertation work focused on socially assistive robots, specifically on the principled design and computational modeling of fundamental social behaviors (such as speech, gestures, eye gaze, social spacing, etc.) that serve as building blocks for automated recognition and control in face-to-face human-robot interactions. His research provides the foundations upon which Semio software is being built.

Sabri Sansoy is the CEO of Orchanic. He is an MIT educated, seasoned entrepreneur with a passion for all things Artificial Intelligence (AI). As one of the world's leading AI experts he's leveraged several of the 30+ subcategories of AI such as machine/deep/reinforcement learning, robotics, computer vision, iot and natural language in the automotive, entertainment, fashion, medical, agriculture and environmental worlds. He has been involved in robotics and AI projects for Ridley Scott, IBM and fashion design firm Marchesa and Volkswagen.

Randolph Voorhies is CTO of inVia Robotics, a robotics startup providing next-generation warehouse automation solutions for e-commerce companies. Randolph has extensive experience working on robotics projects ranging from autonomous submarines to ground robots to quadrotors. He earned both his Masters and PhD degrees in Robotics from the University of Southern California.
