As President Trump closes in on his first 100 days with a timely announcement about a plan to drastically cut taxes , LAWAC will host a panel discussion on Tuesday, May 2nd, with a former adviser to Hillary Clinton, Josh Lockman, a senior Breitbart editor, Joel Pollak, and a political pollster, Dan Schnur, who all have very different views of Trump and his policies – reflecting the diversity of opinion nation-wide on the 45th President.

On October 22, 2016, Trump released a “contract with the American voter” in which he outlined his priorities for his first 100 days (view here).  He has followed through on some of these pledges, notably on withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership and filling the vacancy on the Supreme Court. On other pledges he has faced challenges, including the attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act and the proposed ban on travelers from 7 Muslim countries.

The early days of his presidency have seen a rise in the Dow, questions about Russian interference with the election campaign, a decision to bomb Syria, cordial summits with the Japanese and Chinese leaders, an early replacement of the national security advisor and a torrent of early-morning tweets that have kept politicians, reporters and foreign leaders guessing about what will come next.

Josh Lockman, an adviser to former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on foreign policy, teaches international law and US foreign policy at USC Law School.  He is a Fellow with the Truman National Security Project and from 2008 to 2010 was an associate at Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles. He received a B.A. from Yale University in 2004 and J.D. from USC Law School in 2008.

Joel Pollak is Senior Editor-at-Large and In-house Counsel at Breitbart News. Pollak graduated from Harvard Law School and went on to work as a Research Fellow at the Hudson Institute. He ran, unsuccessfully, for U.S. Congress in 2010, but befriended conservative media pioneer Andrew Breitbart along the way, later joining him in Los Angeles, where they worked side-by-side transforming a blog into a 24-hour news website that would go on to change American politics. He is the author of several books, including “How Trump Won: The Inside Story of a Revolution”.

Dan Schnur is a professor at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communications. For years, Schnur was one of California’s leading political and media strategists, whose record includes work on four presidential and three gubernatorial campaigns.  Schnur also oversaw the USC Dornsife/LA Times Daybreak poll that was one of the few election polls that correctly showed Donald Trump with a lead in the run up to the Presidential election.
